It's driving me insane how easy it is to find AI websites on Neocities. But you know whats more insane? PAYING FOR A SERVER TO HOST A LAYOUT YOU CLEARLY GENERATED IN 20 SECONDS.

AI is a below average "tool" (tools should be useful), it basically is regurgitated slop from other users and anything posted online and millions of other pages and it still has a hard time doing things properly. Something something severe (?) enviromental impact I have to look into.

~~Normal people are neutral to AI.~~ AI IS KILLING MEDIA PRESERVATION.

Myrient is shutting down on March 31st because of the rising costs of RAM, SSD, and HHD prices due to the demand for AI data centers.

Myrient is a website with over 390 TB of organized, collected retro games. It's one of the biggest preservation sites online, It has decades of gaming history.

Myrient is not only ROMS but promo DVDs, magazine scans, etc. from companies that never bothered to preserve them. Myrient stayed ad free, paywall and login free since it was founded, while third parties attempted to profit off the sites data by paywalling it.

These issues made the project almost impossible to sustain due to the amount of out of pocket costs for server hosting. Over 6,000 a month even after getting donations.

A lot of newer websites are made with AI, it's boring and has a very corporate feel. but when I'm exploring Neocities, a handful of them are entirely built on AI. Even the text on the website is some BS AI came up with. At that point, why even be here?

Before the massive influx of this AI crap, We've had a ton of issues with company webpages looking corporate and pages abandoning their original, switching to the "professional" look.

I still can't wrap my head around the fact someone is actually paying to host something he literally asked Claude to generate in 20 seconds. I have worked hard learning and going through the experience of learned markup/programming languages. AI will take this very rewarding experience away from you. Why would you make an account to support something without an extremely popular and large influencial title because it's not a "real VN" to some faggot who's never read a real VN.

Despite all my criticisms and copes, Kaguya.io is definitely not going to be a competitor in any sort of way, in fact the site's probably a honeypot for the Redditards and EOPS. He's stealing your data as we speak!

Kaguya.io SUCKS because of censorship TO ATTRACT ADVERTISERS BTW. Yorhel was AGAINST advertisers and has been working on his website since 2007 and this fuckin nigga literally scraped info off of vndb and pissing on his hard work.
